Article I - Name of Organization
The name of this organization shall be Queer Alliance of PCC.
Article II - Purpose of Organization
The purpose of this organization shall be:
A. to create a safe, supportive, and discriminatory free environment for LGBTIQQ and allied communities on and off-campus.
B. to promote advocacy and action towards bettering human rights with an emphasis on LGBTIQQ issues.
C. to promote awareness and education in regards to the history and current issues facing the LGBTIQQ community.
D. to build coalitions with clubs and organizations both on and off campus.
Article III - Officers
Election of officers will require a majority vote from the general membership. If a candidate fails to receive a majority of votes, a run-off election will be held within the top two candidates that received the most votes. To be eligible for office, candidates must have a cumulative PCC GPA of 2.5. A successful candidate must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA during office. Should their GPA drop below 2.0, they will be removed from office and the executive board will assign a replacement to serve out the remainder out the term. The term of office will be one full year (Fall to Spring). The Executive Board of the organization is comprised of all recognized officers. The Executive Board shall meet in addition to regular organization meetings. The Executive Board shall appoint committees if they are needed to carry out organizational goals.
Term Limits: A person may only hold any one office for four consecutive semesters.
In the event an officer has to step down, they must give one months’ notice.
President
• In attendance at all meetings.
• Represent the organization on campus.
• Ensure that the organization is operating in conformity with the standards set forth by Pasadena City College, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Associated Students of PCC.
• Maintain regular communication with organization advisor.
Vice-President
• Preside over meetings in the absence of the other officers.
• Schedule meetings/events with appropriate College offices and Support the president in their duties.
• Correspond when necessary with college administration and other recognized organizations.
Secretary
• Maintain an accurate record of all organization meetings and post updates for members .
• Maintain membership directory and submit Student Organization Roster forms and create Excel documents with member information.
• Support the vice president in their duties. Maintain and develop website.
• Coordinate organization, promotion and publicity of events in emails and Facebook.
• Weekly emails, tweets, and Facebook updates.
Treasurer
• Maintain accurate records of organizational transactions
• Weekly budget update to leadership
• Develop organization budget and present to membership with the ICC Rep
• Arrange fund-raising opportunities for the organization as necessary
• Develop funding request from the ICC.
ICC Rep
• Go to ICC meetings.
• Lobby for funding.
• Announce events to other clubs.
• Relay and knowledge of AS regulations and club events to the QA leadership.
• Complete paperwork.
All: In consultation with the club advisors, Officers may be removed from office by simple majority vote of the other if actions are deemed detrimental to the club. The officer is permitted to speak before the Executive Board about the charges made concerning his/her performance. The officer is not permitted to participate in the deliberation of the Executive Board regarding the charges.
Article IV - Elections
Elections are held once a year, second to the last meeting prior to the conclusion of the academic year. Nominations are to precede Elections by two weeks. Any member that has been active with the organization for one or more semesters can run for office. Through a majority vote, a person can be elected into office. Members must be notified at least four weeks prior to the nomination period to prepare. Voting will be done by secret ballot.
Article V - Membership
Membership in this organization is open to all PCC students and will not be restricted on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation. As a member, one is required to attend organization meetings regularly and actively support organization projects. With: “To be considered an active member, a PCC student must attend at least three (3) meetings and at least one (1) organization event outside of regular meetings, and will be encouraged to actively support more than that requirement.
Students in good standing with the college are eligible for membership after attending or participating in an organization event/meeting.
As a member, one is required to attend organizational meetings regularly and actively support organization projects. Membership will be revoked by simple majority vote of officers plus ¾ vote from the general membership if actions are deemed inappropriate by the membership. (See behavioral conduct.) Members are required to sign in at the beginning of each meeting.
Article VI - Finances
The treasurer shall maintain all financial records and shall co-sign with the president for all organization transactions. All checking accounts shall be established through the Office of Student Affairs.
Article VII – Meetings
The organization shall hold regular meetings during the academic term except when holidays, examination periods or other events make meetings impractical. Organization meeting day / time will be determined in the beginning of each semester by a ¾ vote of the executive board. If a member must miss a meeting, correspondence with the officers is appreciated. A quorum shall consist of seven members plus one officer.
15 members are required to be in attendance in order to for elections to take place unless ¾ of the executive board chooses another method for voting.
Article VIII- Amendments
Amendments to this constitution during the school semester must be submitted in writing at a regular meeting of the organization. Amendments will be reviewed by the executive board and then said amendments will be voted on at a subsequent meeting. In order to adopt the amendment, a vote of ¾ of the general membership is required.
Amendments made while school is not in session will be reviewed by the executive board, and voted by simple majority. The amendments will made available to general membership for review, and voted on the first general meeting by simple majority.
Article IX- Resolutions
Resolution must be submitted in writing to the secretary. Resolutions will be reviewed by the executive board, and voted on. If approved by simple majority by executive board, the resolution will go to the general membership. In order to adopt the resolution, a vote of simple majority of the general membership is required.
Article X - Advisor
The advisor shall be a full time faculty or staff member at Pasadena City College. The advisor will assume those responsibilities as outlined in this constitution and the adviser responsibilities outlined in the AS regulations. Should remain neutral in final decisions posed by the executive committee.

Can be decided by a vote of simple majority of the membership.
